There
is an airshow every day of AirVenture with different craft and technology
being featured along
with the
usual formation and stunt flying, demonstrations and the obligatory wing-walker.
Four generations of fighters
The Harrier Jump Jet - a vertical or short
takeoff and landing jet;
one of the most powerful and loudest aircraft
on the planet.
It hovers on 23,000 pounds of thrust (the
ground literally trembles
and the noise is deafening) and accelerates
to 500 mph in 2-3 seconds.
The Dreamlifter - largest plane in the
world at the time. A 747 modified to have triple the carrying capacity
in order to
transport the new Boeing 787 bodies from
Europe to final assembly locations in Washington State and Alabama.
