Reconstruction of the I-35 Bridge
Both Minneapolis and St. Paul are bisected
by the Mississippi River. The I-35w Bridge was
one of the main bridges across the river
in Minneapolis. Its collapse a year earlier killed 13,
injured 100, and disrupted traffic in
the entire area. Dozens of people gathered on an
adjacent span daily to watch the progress
of its reconstruction.
